Hello there! I am a Professional Singer/Songwriter/Musician/Touring Performer, and I also teach Music Lessons {Piano/Guitar/Voice} and Songwriting. While I have taught many adults in the past, my expertise is working with children and teaching them not only how to play their chosen instrument, but also on How To Write Their Own Music.
While students will study and practice in depth the “Ins and Outs” of their instruments, musical theory and sheet music notation, they are also greatly encouraged to be creative and express their musical ideas & compositions during lesson time, as well as during home practice.
I teach Beginning Piano & Beginning Guitar and Vocal Training for ages 5 – 17. I do make exceptions now and then to the age limit. I have been described as a very mellow, fun encouraging teacher, as I believe – 100% – that music should be enjoyable and a release. Of course, I do encourage daily practice, which isn’t always the most “fun” thing to do, but I set realistic, achievable weekly goals. All musical accomplishments, no matter how small, are praised and celebrated.
I teach private music lessons at my Third Ward Studio in Milwaukee, WI, in Your Home, Uncle Bob’s Music Store in West Allis, WI. We can have a set time for lessons, or take it week to week. I have very relaxed, flexible scheduling.
I hold 1 specific songwriting workshop per month, with a maximum of 4 students {ages 7-13} held in the Third Ward, Milwaukee, WI and a few times a year in Nashville, TN. The workshop is usually held on a Saturday , mid-day for 2 hours. We collaboratively write lyrics, music and then record a finished product. Everyone participates in some way with their instrument – in the writing and/or performance, as well as lyrically. Their has been much laughter, many smiles and some impressive songs that have come out of those sessions!
NEXT WORKSHOP:
Saturday, November 19th, 2011.
Noon – 2pm.
Third Ward Milwaukee, WI.
$50 per student.
